Asset Based Community Development
When Gladys Mponda's son was turned away from every school, she built her own Mponda Community School.
In the same spirit, Gladys and her husband, senior headman Mponda, now lead their community. The approach is straightforward: mobilise community members to drive their own development using local resources.
Conservation partnerships
For more than a decade, Getrude Mwiba watched the same scene repeat itself. An NGO would arrive in a community near Kafue National Park, run a conservation programme, and leave. But when BLC began facilitating the Conservation Partnership (CP) model, there was the start of a long-term relationship, with better results than she had hoped for.
